The first time I heard “Forever My Father,” was live at this tiny rock bar in Tampa, which was the best / worst decision ever..

Jason Lancaster (lead singer of Go Radio and former lead singer of Mayday Parade) steps up to the mic and shares a short story about the heartache over his fathers passing that year, being really confused whether or not to keep pursuing music, and how the support of his family and friends got  him back on track.

He ends the story with, “I would like to play a song I wrote for my father.” I turn around to find every girl in the place already crying! So now I’m talking to myself, telling myself to “lock it up” and “you’re not doing this here!”  Jason sits down at the piano, his fingers barely pressing the keys, and he starts singing. There is no other way to say it…a tear or two may have rolled down my face. Here I am in this tiny run down rock bar now crying with 50 of my closest strangers, all thinking about the same thing, our fathers. Say what you want, but it was the one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen!

The next morning I wake up and I’m still trying to process what my eyes had seen the previous night. I roll out of bed, walk into the kitchen look at my father, and all I could say is I love you…
